Pathology Department

Experienced pathologists, histopathologists, microbiologists, hematologists, chemical pathologists, biologists, technologists, and technicians work in the clinical laboratory department at United Christian Hospital. In order to identify potential health hazards and diagnose disorders, we provide affordable lab testing across all disciplines. Every year, more patients come to our internal laboratory and the lab performs over a million tests. Our technicians are highly skilled and trained, which contributes to ensuring compliance in all sample collection and result steps. The collection of reports is even more convenient thanks to our online system for collecting lab results.

Haematology

Including routine blood counts, the best malaria test, clot screening, coagulation factor assays, thrombophilia screening, bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy facilities, cytochemical stains, and Hb and protein electrophoresis, this section is well-equipped with an auto-analyser to perform routine as well as specialised investigations.

Chemistry of Disease

The United Christian Hospital's Chemical Pathology section offers services to in-patients, out-patients, and the emergency rooms. The division offers thorough, high-quality diagnostic services that are both effective and economical.

The newest technology is used in the Chemical Pathology area, where tests are carried out on automated equipment by highly qualified personnel to ensure precise results in the shortest amount of time. Every day, the division conducts more than 1,200 tests and provides normal and round-the-clock emergency services.

In the chemical pathology area, qualified and skilled medical technologists and technicians with extensive expertise using automated analyzers are employed.

Immunology

Diagnostic services of the highest calibre are offered by the Immunology Section. On completely automated machinery, the section is carrying out specialised tests using the agglutination, ELISA, and chemiluminescence procedures. The section runs a wide range of assays, including hormone profiles, tumour markers, and virus and hepatitis profiles.

Cytology and Histopathology

Modern machinery is well-equipped in the section. Other Histo-chemical stains, such as Giemsa, Z-N, Congo red, Reticulin, and Oil red, are also offered in addition to Hematoxylin and Eosin staining.

Additionally, immunohistochemistry using a panel of antibodies for tumour categorization and diagnosis as well as receptor assay analysis for breast cancer are carried out. Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology is now carried out on a regular basis in the Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology room in the Cytology section.

Microbiology

The section conducts routine examinations of the urine and faeces, analyses of all biological fluids, aerobic and anaerobic cultures of CSF, ascitic and pleural fluid, Pus, AFB cultures, and sensitivity tests for fungi. The section just began sperm preparation for intrauterine insemination in partnership with the department of gynaecology and obstetrics (IUI). The Microbiology department employs highly skilled medical technicians under the direction of expert pathologists.

Medical Transfusions

Plasma Cell Separator is included in this section. Up to 650 units of various blood products can be kept in our storage facilities. For the purpose of giving patients safe blood, all varieties of blood products, such as platelets, fresh frozen plasma (FFP), cryoprecipitates, granulocytes, and packed BsAg, HIV, optimal malaria test, and VDRL, are created.
